Her Belle Tease

Her Belle Tease is a herbal tea brand that shows people about the multifunctional uses of plants by focusing on ingredients from Europe and Asia that are traditionally used for food, medicine, colour, bioconstruction and bioaccumulation and backed up by modern science and pharmaceutical research.

Our Founder Samm Lewis creates artwork from the ingredients themselves to create a unique transmedia ecosystem where the plants become beings that share information with the drinkers to show them a deeper world.

Samm blends each recipe herself, she lets the ingredients speak,the flavours develop into a full mouth and body experience, from unfogging the mind after a motorbike ride on the highway, to offering calming periods and helping to relieve migraines after storms. She will explore combinations of plants that support the mind body and soul through phytochemistry, creative outlets such as painting and roundtable workshops during tea tastings.

Her Belle Tease is one of the rising stars of the Herbal Teas category. With flavours and a mouth journey that flavour hunters dream of experiencing. Seriously. Coming from a background in sustainable fashion the cross over to drinks is seamless. The artwork that is created from the tea blends is translated into clothing that adds a deeper home-based essence to the brand.

Her Belle Tease the brand itself grew from the chill out spaces at festivals across Europe to now be in stores, bars, homes and art installations. Bringing some fun feisty healing energy to everyone who drinks and interacts with the immersive world of Her Belle Tease.

Our mission

I started Her Belle Tease because I wanted to understand plants better, not just as things we drink, but as incredible resources for food, health, colour, textiles, building, soil and so much more.
What began with making tea blends to support my own health turned into a much bigger question: what have we forgotten about plants, and what could we learn from them again?
Her Belle Tease is growing from a tea brand into a herbal lifestyle brand based around tea, exploring the relationship between plants, people, food, medicine, art and the environments we live in.
Through teas, workshops, storytelling and making, I want to create a space for people going through change, transition or simply wanting to feel more connected to themselves, each other and the natural world. A place to learn practical plant knowledge, from herbal traditions and natural dyes to materials, ecological building and everyday wellbeing.
I believe plants are teachers. Humans have been learning from them for thousands of years, and there is a huge amount of knowledge sitting right under our noses that we risk losing.
But I don't want to disappear into the woo. Her Belle Tease is a tea brand that sits somewhere between science, folk knowledge, experimentation and a healthy dose of curiosity. There is room for both the things we can measure and the things we can feel.
At its heart, Her Belle Tease is about making plant knowledge feel exciting, useful and accessible again, so that instead of seeing plants as just ingredients, we start seeing them as food, medicine, material, colour, habitat, teachers and collaborators.
In a world where our resources are becoming increasingly uncertain, I think learning how to work with the plants around us is a pretty powerful form of self-reliance, and it can be beautiful, too.

Her Belle Tease is a tea brand growing into a herbal lifestyle practice, built on a simple idea: plants are not just ingredients. They’re knowledge.
Founded by artist and tea maker Samm Lewis, Her Belle Tease sits somewhere between science, folk knowledge, art, experimentation, community, storytelling and a healthy dose of curiosity.
It started with tea blends made to support my own health, but quickly became a much bigger question:

Plants can be food, medicine, colour, fibre, building material, habitat, medicine, teachers and collaborators. They have been helping humans survive, create and make sense of the world for thousands of years, and there is an enormous amount of knowledge sitting right under our noses that we risk losing.
Through seasonal teas, workshops, plant experiments, storytelling and art, Her Belle Tease explores the many ways we can work with plants, from what we put in our cups to natural dyes, textiles, ecological materials, biodiversity and the environments we live in.
We’re interested in the measurable AND the mysterious, combining traditional plant knowledge with modern research, practical experimentation and a little bit of magic.
Because in a world where our resources are becoming increasingly uncertain, learning how to understand and work with the plants around us feels like a pretty powerful form of self-reliance.
And it can be beautiful, too.
